A brain child of Sarah Arora, currently a student at Babson College, Boston, USA, Sarah is pursuing her undergrad degree while running SanSar–a new age home decor and accessories e-commerce brand that is a fine blend of women empowerment and sustainability. Hailing from the illustrious textile family of D’Décor Exports, Sarah, who is the youngest daughter of Mr. Sanjay Arora, MD of D’Décor, has always been passionate about the home décor business and knew that she wanted to be deeply involved in it. Sarah is also keen on spearheading the movement on sustainability and women’s empowerment by creating a close-knit professional circle of like-minded business leaders to support and effortlessly work towards a better future.

Having always been surrounded by fabrics, Sarah’s family holidays and dinner table conversations were mostly centred around the business, mainly innovations and machines. As she learned more about the business first hand, Sarah’s dream and vision of using her creative aesthetics into decorating beautiful spaces came alive with the birth of SanSar, a brand close to her heart that was conceived during the Covid-19 lockdown.

SanSar is dedicated to work towards sustainable development goals, which includes equality, climate change. Sustainability and empowerment are two values that go hand-in-hand in SanSar. The brand stands for beautiful, quality products with less waste and no compromise on design or quality. Breaking existing stereotypes, SanSar trains and encourages women from less privileged backgrounds to acquire new skills, giving them the self-confidence to find their way into the world. It puts the emphasis on acting ethically and encouraging a culture of sustainability while finding innovative design solutions.

Born of concern with the excessive use of our world’s natural resources and the large amount of industrial waste produced, no material used in the manufacture of these products ends up in the landfills. The textile scraps are collected and repurposed into creating products with the highest quality standards. However, she is confident that customers of SanSar Home will easily relate with the brand on a personal note due to its ethos. As a millennial entrepreneur committed to sustainability; imbibing the quality into the brand DNA was challenging but gratifying. Growing up in a family involved in the textile business has brought with it plenty of lessons and learnings, all of which have encouraged Sarah to fine-tune the nuances and dynamics of the business. Supported by a strong and independent mother, a supportive elder sister who is her sounding board and her father who remains her pillar of strength and guiding force, Sarah’s long-term goal is to further grow the product mix, both horizontally and vertically.
