Following his ban from Twitter and Facebook, former US President Donald Trump launched his own official website called 45office.com to “stay in touch with his supporters”.
Amid the latest series of events where close Trump aides hinted at the possibility of the former president starting his own social media platform to counter “Fake News”, the President launched his own website called 45office.com, the “45” pertaining to his designation as the 45th President of United States.
The former President was banished from social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube following the riots on US Capitol Hill in which Trump was arraigned for galvanizing his supporters to “stop the steal”.
The former president’s office announced the launch of “the official website of the 45th President of the United States” and stated that the former first couple is “continually strengthened by the enduring spirit of the American people” and look forward to “staying in touch.”
The website itself is still relatively small as it only contains pages summarizing Trump’s time in office and the achievements of his administration; another page contains a feature where supporters can submit comments and messages to the former president, send a request for a personalized meeting or even book the former first couple for private events.
“The Office of Donald J. Trump is committed to preserving the magnificent legacy of the Trump Administration, while at the same time advancing the America First agenda,” the homepage of the website read.
The website is being seen as the first step in a large series of actions yet to come by the pompous former president who still holds significant influence on the Republican Party, which is in a state of disarray following the defeat of President Trump and losses in the senate.
It must be reassuring for former President Donald Trump to know that, regardless of how many scandals he endures, he’ll always have at least one loving fan — himself https://t.co/nUvw3b5X6U— The Daily Beast (@thedailybeast) March 30, 2021
Earlier this month Jason Miller who is a former adviser to President Trump had confirmed that the president will be returning to the social media platform in 2 to 3 months, he said: “It’s going to completely redefine the game, and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does, but it will be his own platform,”.
The former President has also hinted at a possible 2024 Presidential run during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
Donald Trump has been at the centre of controversy ever since his victory in the 2016 election, his presidency was as controversial as his campaign back in 2016, during his time in office, Trump used Twitter to send out tweets to communicate with his supporters. His Twitter account prior to being banned had 88 million followers.
It remains to be seen as how these events will unfold and what the future holds for the former president, and whether he is serious about running for office again in 2024. Whatever it may, the President still enjoys tremendous support from his followers who have remained loyal to the President through thick and thin.
