Skill India Mission is organizing its flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana with the mission to get the prospective youth skilled including Persons with Disabilities under short-term training courses and Recognition of Prior Learning all over the country.
There are incentives to encourage the participation of Persons With Disability in the skill training, namely post-placement support, boarding and lodging, monthly conveyance allowance, etc.
Also, there is a Sector Skill Council for Pwd, by the name, Skill council for Pwd for equipping the needs of the PWD candidates and run the training in PwD friendly training centres. These structures are made for candidates to experience training with ease.
According to the stats, as of December 21st under the Short Term Training component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, around 48,000 PwD candidates have been trained under 191 training centres.
There are several provisions for monitoring training centres as well as candidates. The life cycle of the training process of candidates is tracked on a real-time basis over the Skill India Portal which is linked with Aadhar enabled biometric attendance.
Evaluation of the ongoing schemes and consequent improvements is an ongoing process and the PMKVY Monitoring Committee reviews and formulate a framework on the critical cases related to monitoring issues of the stakeholders.
