Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsava is being celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the nation and the differently-abled are dedicating inspiring efforts in an individual capacity to this celebration. And taking this spirit ahead, we are delighted to announce a 16-Day Lucknow-Ladakh-Lucknow Awareness Tour which is organised by the Differently-Abled Individuals (Wheelchair Users) with the aim to spread awareness for the Divyangjans, showing the world that disabled people can achieve the same feat as their abled counterparts and also for the abled body to create the environment for them.
And through this initiative, we take the #DrivewithAbility campaign to its Phase 2, to bring people out of their houses and raise awareness about driving in the disabled community.
The #DrivewithAbility campaign was launched by The Wheelchair Cricket India Association(WCIA) to raise awareness about driving in the disabled community.
The Wheelchair Cricket India Association (W.C.I.A.) is a Non-Profit registered organization working under the legal framework of the country and is the pioneer association, the apex body of the country to promote and provide a platform for young wheelchair-bound sportsmen who wish to engage and play cricket from the beginning to the excellence level. W.C.I.A. has the credit to make the 1st Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team.
This trip is going to be the first of its kind disability awareness campaign in India, a self-driven road trip to Ladakh by Differently-Abled Individuals esp. wheelchair users.
Yes, disability triggers a range of unsettling emotions and fears in a person’s mind but with this road trip, we are hoping to encourage that disability can become your strength and it can become your ability to achieve your dreams without any hurdles because the ability to triumph begins within you. And also how one should never judge a disability by its visibility.
It is going to be an experience of a lifetime for them because it will be a self-driven road trip by disabled individuals.
Whereas in the first phase of the #drivewithability campaign, we had spread the word and filled the void of information related to driving with a disability which further encouraged members of the disabled community, as well as able-bodied individuals.
In this road trip, a visually appealing travel documentary will be made of the complete tour because the documentary has the power to move the audience, it has the ability to be cinematic while still capturing the soul of its subject in a pure and raw form. This initiative will be a big boost in empowering the differently-abled.
