Prada Men’s Autumn/Winter 2022

Fashion is all about acceptance, it’s dynamic. As the industry is changing with time it has become more inclusive towards gender, color, and now age too. This week the world saw yet another major fashion brand celebrating fashion at every walks of life by including models from every age category.

Prada showcased their recent collection with none other than Hollywood legends like Jeff Goldblum and Kyle MacLachlan as they catwalk on Sunday afternoon, bringing a new hype to a much quiet menswear fashion week as many brands had to cancel with the increasing Covid cases all across Europe. Much was seen at starstudded Michael Kors Fall Ready-To-Wear 2021 Collection.

It is the second physical catwalk show from founder Miuccia Prada and her co-creative director, Raf Simons, since the duo came onboard in early 2020, marking an unmatched union of the most influential and famed designers in the current scenario.

The duo has put out a great collection,  so far many of them are critically acclaimed including this autumn/winter 2022 collection. Taking the inspiration from the uniform as their stimuli this time, Prada along with Simons elevated boiler suits in silk tech, leather, and cotton, and blurred rose-print – replacing “the traditional historical shirt/tie/bow tie and giving a new energy and reality, a younger attitude also,” said Simons. The collection also displayed large trench coats and utilitarian parkas with shearling panels. Besides that, it also featured accessories including compartmentalized backpacks, fluorescent gloves, and miniature pocket belts in the signature Prada triangle that got social media buzzing.

“The collection celebrates the idea of working – in all different spheres and meanings,” said Prada, emphasizing the idea of the importance of formal work and the wardrobe she imagines represents it. “Through these clothes, we emphasize that everything a human being does is important. Every aspect of reality can be elegant and dignified … elevated, and celebrated.”

Additionally, the casting of the show was quite surprising yet inspiring. Hollywood actors Kyle MacLachlan, Ashton Sanders, and Louis Patridge also graced the dark amber theme runway with an interstellar-esque tunnel.

Conceptualizing the seriousness as well as sensationalism in the entire collection while keeping the clothes sophisticated and esteemed in the show. As for footwear, a single square-toed black leather boot style dominates the runway.

In an ongoing online content series produced by Vogue Korea titled “#VoguePictures,” the magazine collaborated with Prada in order to promote their Fall 2022 mens collection show. In the 30-second fashion film, featuring Jaehyun, a k-pop singer takes on the role of leading man as he accepts his invitation to the show. Wearing the same outfit from his Instagram post, curated by stylist Kim Sea Jun, the singer models the collection with strong charisma.
