Michael Kors Fall Ready-To-Wear 2021 Collection

The streets of New York City saw a star-studded 40th-anniversary Michael kors fashion show. The event was yet again a strong creative move with the streets of New York City turning into a runway.  If the pandemic still wouldn’t be lurking around then, Michael Kors’s 40th would have been the biggest fashion bash in the fashion industry with a celebrity amped-up front row and a wild glamorous after-party.

Still, the show and the collection was a success with models slaying their every look on the runway. From Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Carolyn Murphy, and Shalom Harlow to Irina Shayk, Ashley Graham strutted her stuff down 45th Street in sequins, long coats and double-face cashmere. The main aim behind the show was to support the broadway community which has been suffering miserably since the pandemic started, impacting around 100,000 workers and staunched the $15 billion the industry contributes to the New York economy. Kors gave a recorded message announcing a money-raising drive for the Actors Fund: “The Broadway community has been suffering terribly since the shutdown,” he said.

The runway saw a string of top models (Bella, Naomi, Shalom!) stepped out onto the West 44th Street purring with chic looks.

Walking beneath the theatre marquees, and looking refreshingly clean and edgy, all the music, lights along the models brought life to the city’s empty streets that were once filled with crowds. The collection was quite beautiful with clean details, tailoring was clean, sleek, and razor-sharp whether it was cut in Prince of Wales wool or black glove leather. A liquid look in black sequined turtleneck and flannel trousers, or a Swarovski crystal pin-striped tuxedo jumpsuit or a white puffball of a pet coat etc are some eye-catchy runway moments.

Kors has always been inspired by new york vibes and its take on fashion. One season he gave us a runway a timely Mad Men gloss, another it was a Studio 54 spin, but one thing is for sure is that his collections were always positive, always unshakably him. This season he made a compelling case for ditching sweats for sexy tailoring with a long-line glen plaid blazer, worn with a strapless bustier jacket and lean trousers, or a shrunken double-breasted dogtooth jacket and slashed mini showing Kors’ famous flash of leg. “People say I’m the man who made women stop wearing tights in the winter,” he shared. “At the time, someone said you will never have a hosiery license. And 30 years later, I still don’t and probably never will,” says Michael Kors.
