New day, new team, a new match. The thrill of IPL never fades. With each year teams invest in new talents, here's a brief account of the new talents of the KKR and MI. Kolkata Knight Riders: Vaibhav Arora: The young pacer from Himachal Pradesh is selected by KKR this season at his base price of Rs 20 Lakhs. Arora who represents Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket recently performed amazingly well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament. A yorker specialist, he was selected as a net bowler for Punjab Kings last season, where he was noticed by KKR selectors, who were impressed by his quality wicket-to-wicket bowling and his pace. KKR has always had an image of a franchise that does not shy away from selecting young players and getting them in the middle of the ground. This was the reason why Vaibhav Arora too was given a chance to play for the franchise this season. It would be interesting for fans to see if the young pacer can prove to be a worthy choice or not. Prasidh Krishna: Prasidh made a first-class debut in 2015, where he took a five-wicket haul against the Bangladesh side. Since then, Prasidh was sometimes in playing the match, and sometimes on the bench. He didn’t get regular chances to play until the Vijay Hazare Trophy of 2017-18, where he once again proved his talent and took 17 wickets out of 8 games he played in the tournament. This paved the way for him and he got a call-up to play for RCB as a replacement for Kamlesh Nagarkoti. He played 7 games for the franchise and did reasonably well by taking 10 wickets in the season. Prasidh, who has also debuted for India in ODIs last month against England, where he took a 4 wicket haul, is now playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in this season of the Indian Premier League. As a young and dynamic pacer who also has a great future in team India, Prasidh has a lot on his plate and it’ll be interesting to see how well he performs for his franchise this cricketing season. Mumbai Indians: Arjun Tendulkar: One selection that created the maximum buzz in the cricketing world as well as amongst the millennials, was the selection of Arjun Tendulkar into the most successful franchise of IPL - Mumbai Indians. His selection triggered a debate on skills vs Nepotism, in the internet world, since he is the son of legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who is also the mentor of Mumbai Indians. Barring all the controversies related to his selection, his recent performance in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy- the domestic tournament, where he took two wickets at an economy of 9.57, also made it to the headlines. Apart from that, he has also been bowling in the nets for team India, during different bilateral series and tournaments, for quite some time. Still, it is very difficult to say that he’ll be getting a chance in the playing 11 of MI this season since the team is already looking much balanced, but if he gets, he must prove himself worthy enough for getting selected out of nowhere, into the biggest cricket franchise in the world. Marco Jansen: This South-African pacer was bought by Mumbai Indians at his base price of ₹ 20 Lakh, during the auctions, early this year. After he was bought, former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan who is the director of cricket operations of Mumbai Indians had said that the franchise had expected a bidding war for the South African player, while team owner Akash Ambani mentioned that they had been tracking the bowler for almost two years before signing him up. Jansen first came into notice when in 2018, he beat Virat Kohli thrice, in a net practice in Johannesburg. Since then, he is being tracked and now when he has been bought by defending champions MI, it’ll be an interesting contest to watch between the rivals, Virat from RCB and Marco Jansen of the MI paltan.
