Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal flags off Delhi’s first e-auto fleet on March 31. Blue and lilac electric autos began playing on Delhi roads at Indraprastha Bus Depot.
“With the launch of e-auto, 3,500 drivers’ families will now have a livelihood, which includes 500 women — a matter of great pride for Delhi.”

The allotment of e-autos was done by a computerized draw-on. Asish Kundra, Transport Commissioner told that around 356 e-autos have been registered and nearly 20-25 are in the process of issuance of the registration.
“Keeping the Delhi pollution in mind, we are gradually initiating a paradigm shift in vehicles from fuel-based to electric ones. These electric autos have been introduced in this direction, which will now regularly operate throughout Delhi. As a symbolic gesture, some men and women driving these e-autos were handed their official documents”

Online applications were invited to allot 4261 e-autos in October and November 2021.
Out of which 1406 were meant for females but only 743 applications were received from the females. Then later in February a fresh round of applications was invited from women of which 93 of them applied.
The e-auto permit cannot be transferred for five years, except in case of death, and is to be driven only by the LOI holder.
E-autos allotted under the quota for women can be transferred only to another woman driver.
And after the LOIs are issued, the prospective buyers would have to mobilize their finances and purchase the vehicle, after which it will be registered.
