A first-of-its-kind television show has been initiated by the Delhi Government for the students of classes 11 and 12. And guess the idea behind it – it gives them a chance to be an entrepreneur. ‘Business Blasters’ will allow these students an opportunity to put their creativity to play and then actually pitch their start-up ideas to investors and progress with it if they are successful in getting the capital. The first episode of the eight-part series was aired on Sunday, 28th November.
At the event’s launch, the Deputy CM of Delhi – Manish Sisodia spoke about how the platform will build confidence in the students and encourage their problem-solving ability. The benefits will bring out the creative talents and potential of the younger generation and also make an economic impact on the country. Encouraging entrepreneurship will also create more jobs and opportunities in the market. “Through this, children will not run after jobs, but jobs will come to these children,” he said. It will be a component of the Entrepreneur Mindset Curriculum (EMC) implemented at higher secondary schools.

For the longest time, India’s education system has been labeled as one that promotes textbook learning rather than practical skills that are actually valued in the job market. The intention of the project is to provide young minds with hands-on experience and develop values like teamwork, communication, the value of money, and importantly, practical thinking to identify everyday challenges around them and come up with solution models. One can begin by implementing their ideas in their neighborhoods. All participants on the show were given ₹2,000 each as seed money to put their ideas to action. Over time, the teams can choose to make profits or work on the social facet of the issues. The ones shortlisted further will be given a chance to present their ideas before a highly qualified and skilled panel of judges with the likes of Urban Company CEO Abhiraj Singh Bhal, SHEROES CEO Sairee Chahal, and Chaayos founder Nitin Saluja.
