India’s Harnaaz Sandhu is all making us proud bringing the glory back home straight after 21 years.
Model Harnaaz Sandhu beats contestants from 80 countries to win the title.
Sandhu represented India at the 70th Miss Universe 2021, held in Eilat, Israel.
21-year-old Harnaaz Sandhi hails from Punjab, bagged the coveted pageant, while Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira became the first runner up and Lalela Mswane of South Africa being the second runner up.
Sandhu was presented the crown by Andra Meza, who was the former Miss Universe from Mexico at the event.
India won the title earlier in 1994 when Sushmita Sen was crowned Miss Universe. After that Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe in 2000. And now it’s Harnaaz Sandhu in 2021 who bagged the title of Miss Universe.

Final Round Question
During the final round, the question that the contestants were asked was, “What advice would you give to young women watching on how to deal with the pressure they face today”
To this, Sandhu answered, “ The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing, is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that is why I am standing here today.”
Harnaaz Sandhu started her journey at the age of 17, previously she was crowned Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, was even placed in the Top 12 at Femina Miss India 2019. Recently in 2021, she has been crowned Miss Diva 2021.
The first thing Sandhu said with tears of happiness in her eyes, after winning the crown was, “Chak De Phatte India”.
