Kirori Mal College, DU introduces an online certification course on disability research

‘Centre for Disability Research & Training, Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi’ in association with ‘National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People(NCPEDP)’ has bought together an online Certification Course, “An Introduction to Disability Research: A Legal & Social Studies Perspective”. 

This virtual course is a two-credit course, with a duration of over 9 weeks with 3 classes every week. It is designed in such a manner that the students can conveniently accommodate it with their regular classes.

Undergraduate, postgraduate students & research scholars from any recognised Indian University can participate. The KMC Center for Disability Research & Training will provide lessons in virtual mode.

What is NCPEDP?

The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People(NCPEDP) is a cross-disability non-profit organisation working with stakeholders, to defend the rights of persons with disability along with encouraging their employment, creating & disseminating knowledge, increasing public awareness, opportunities and working towards easy access to all public places.

Why is the course designed?

This is a step to create a more inclusive and accessible world for all. The course is designed to sensitize the society to the needs and concerns of persons with disabilities.

The college says that is going to emphasize helping participants understand the intervention framework, research writing, and advocacy mechanism, with a specific focus on persons with disabilities.

In 2021, Kirori Mal College had launched an initiative to boost visually challenged students in pursuing higher education. The initiative was titled Aarohan done in collaboration with an NGO called Saksham.  The college will provide assistance devices to students who are visually challenged or with low vision.
