Lucknow Bhatkhande introduces 3 new departments, and 87 new courses in the pipeline

Bhatkhande State Cultural University (BSCU) in Lucknow is in the process to launch 3 new departments in order to widen the choices of courses they are offering in performing arts, language and cultural studies, theology and more.

Known for the courses in visual arts, Indian history and culture, and Buddha and Jain studies, the new additional courses are expected to start this session. Plus, the University might soon introduce 87 courses from the academic session 2022-23 in July for students who pursue a nonconventional degree, diploma or certificate.

5-year courses to be introduced at Bhatkhande

One of the most reputed cultural universities in all of Uttar Pradesh. Recently in Jan 2022, Bathkande has been awarded a full-fledged state of the university. 

With the new status, the BSCUis planning to diversify and elaborate their overall curriculum.

The University has already planned to start 5-year-long courses under its elaboration of courses, which will reportedly be run in association with autonomous cultural institutes. Institutes like Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi, Bhartendu Natya Akademi, State Lalit Kala Akademi, Jain Research Institute, Buddha Research Institute, Rashtriya Kathak Sansthan, Sant Kabir Academy and Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan.

New opportunities in Lucknow

Registrar Tuhin Srivastava, said, till now aspirants for several undergraduate and postgraduate courses like Pali, Prakrit, manuscriptology and palaeography, museology, philosophy and religion had to shift to other cities such as Varanasi, Gaya and Delhi. Thankfully now students can now pursue all such courses in their very own city Lucknow.

“The final decision about these programmes will be taken in the academic council meeting on Monday. The courses will help the students learn the culture and heritage of our country in a better way. The admission process will begin in the first week of July,” he added.
