The ‘City Of Nawabs’ is one of the most primal and multicultural tourist destinations of India. Lucknow flourished during the 18th and 19th centuries as an artistic and cultural center of India under the region of the Nawabs of Awadh. It is one of the largest cities of India and the second-largest city in North India. The city has many architectural wonders, historical monuments, and much more. We have created a list of places that are a must-visit when you are in Lucknow. Bara Imambara Bara Imambara is one of the most famous monuments in the City of Nawabs. Locally it is known as Bhul Bhulaaiya, a maze which is located on the upper floor of the monument. The forever unresistible rush outside the monument brings out, soul and magic in that area. The architecture of Bara Imambara is influenced by the ornamented Mughal design, Badshah Mosque. And you will be surprised to know that this was one of the last projects not incorporating the use of irons or any European elements. And the spectacular view from the roof is breathtaking. Chota Imambara Chota Imambara is about 183 years old and houses the graves of Nawab Ali Shah and his mother. It is also known as Hussainabad Imambara. It has five arching doorways- emphasizing the importance of the Panjetan or Pentagon the significant religious leader of Islam the Holy 5 namely Prophet Mohammad, Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Hassan, Hazrat Fatima, and Hazrat Hussain. The interior of Chota Imambara is magical and narrates the tale of the magnificence and glory of Awadh. Marine Drive Marine Drive is named after the famous Marine Drive in Mumbai. Marine Drive stretches approximately 8 Kms from Lucknow Junction and can be reached in under half an hour via the Lohia path. The pathway has garden benches for any visitor to sit, enjoy and be awestruck by the beauty of the setting sun over the Gomti River. The place has many eating points around it. It is one of the most happening areas of Lucknow. Ambedkar Memorial Park Ambedkar Memorial Park was formally known as Dr.Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal. It is a public park and memorial in Gomti Nagar. The whole park is mighty huge and has a whole lot of other sculptures and sites inside it. k The entrance is graced by 62 elephants on either side. The place includes a sculpture of Dr. Ambedkar in the sanctum sanction of the park. Gautam Buddha Park Gautam Buddha Park is a scenic park with statue of elephants along with fountains and a green environment. It has become a picnic spot for many. The whole area is studded with lamp posts, rides, and swings for children. There’s a boating facility also available in the park. Availability of snacks and food of all kinds is there. Janeshwar Mishra Park It was named in memory of late politician Janeshwar Mishra. The park has a long meandering way with lush greenery with floral gardens. The place also offers activities such as boat rides, cycling, and children’s play area. Since the place is so huge, it is a great space for jogging and walking. Lucknow Zoo Lucknow Zoo is spread on 71.6 acres of land. It was named after the last nawab of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah. The zoo is home to 463 mammals, 298 birds, and 72 reptiles representing 97 species. The toy train in the Lucknow Zoo is the cherry on the cake, it was started in 1969. The track is 1.5 kilometers long and has crossings and signals. The ride starts from Chandrapuri station and travels to almost every section of the zoo. It is a centre point for kids. Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Park The park is developed by the Lucknow Development authority in Gomti Nagar. The park is spread over 76 acres. There are a total of four courtyards. From jogging track to acupressure track to fish pond to open exercise area, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Park includes various facilities for all sorts of people.
