Delhi University(DU) had released the first cut-off list for admission to its undergraduate courses (UG) on 1st October, along with the colleges releasing their individual lists. Admissions according to this list has started on October 4th. While the last date for applications was October 6th, students had time till October 8th to submit their forms and fees. So, with this, the 1st List admissions has ended yesterday. The second list is due to be released on October 9th and admissions to this list will be conducted between October 11-13, 2021. In the first list, 8 top colleges of the university have set a cutoff of 100% for at least 10 courses! Despite this, there were almost 59,525 applications received, out of which 12,774 applications have been approved by the principals of various colleges while another 17,913 students have paid the fees, according to the data shared by DU. Colleges that have set 100% cutoff in the first list are - Shri Ram College for Commerce (SRCC) - BA (Hons) Economics and BCom Honours,Hindu College - Political Science HonoursRamjas College - Political Science Honours and combination of BA programmeSGTB Khalsa College for - BCom Honours Hansraj College - BSc (Hons) Computer ScienceShaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies - BSc (Hons) Computer Science Deen Dayal Upadhyay College - BSc (Hons) Computer Science and Jesus and Mary College - BA(Hons) Psychology For other colleges, The cut-off at Deshbandhu College has seen an increase in the number of applications than last year. The college has set a cut-off of 97 per cent cut-off for some BA programme combinations. At Aryabhatta College, the cut-off for BA(Hons) Hindi has seen a spike from last year. In 2020, the cut-off for the course was 80 per cent but this year it is 86 per cent. Some Colleges have closed admissions to certain courses in the unreserved category. Hindu College Principal Anju Shrivastava said, "We will be closed for admissions to Political Science (Honours), History (Honours), Hindi (Honours), BA programme, Philosophy (Honours), etc and almost all the science courses. I think we will only have seats left in BA (Honours) Economics and BCom (Honours)." Meanwhile, Miranda House has also closed admissions to Political Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Zoology courses. However, seats are to be filled in courses like Sociology, History, Economics and some combinations of BA programme. With some 70,000 students scoring 95% and more in CBSE, cutoffs have also soared. Same as in 2020, the admissions are being conducted online due to concerns over the COVId-19 pandemic. Over 2.87 lakh students have applied to Delhi University UG courses, down from 3.53 lakh applications last year. The University will release 5 cut-off lists and 3 special lists subject to vacancies. Most of the seats for popular courses with sky-high cutoffs were bagged by students from the Kerala state board. This comes after the University upheld the admission process to consider only class 12th marks.
