A Tri-Nation Twenty20 series has commenced in Dhaka, Bangladesh today with India blind cricket team taking the Pakistan blind cricket team heads on. The 17-member squad of the Indian blind cricket team is led by Captain Ajay KumarReddy. The series kicked off with an India and Bangladesh encounter on April 2. Teams from Pakistan, India and the host country Bangladesh are participating in this Tri-Nation Twenty20 series. The teams from India and Pakistan will come face to face again on April 7 in the series. “They are a strong team. We have won four World Cups so far and each time we had to beat them in the final. Those who will make mistakes in the game, have to face the consequences. We are practising very hard to beat Pakistan,” said Reddy on matches against arch-rival Pakistan, according to a report. The Indian blind cricket team had a preparatory camp near Kolkata ahead of the series. The team was last seen in action in a three-match ODI and T20I series against Nepal in December 2019. “Though we got an opportunity to spend time with our family members due to the lockdown, as a sportsman, it was difficult as we had to spend time without playing a single game till last month,” Reddy told Sunday mid-day. All members including the players of the three countries, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh took tests for the Covid-19 and were negative. “They, Bangladesh Blind Cricket Council allowed us,” Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) secretary John David has confirmed. “I don’t think there is any risk,” according to a media report. “Yes, cases are increasing there too, but it’s not in our hands. We will take utmost precautions,” added David, who is also the chief selector of the team, the report said. All three teams will face each other two times with which two teams will qualify for the finals scheduled to be played on April 8.
