#MaskonIndia: The Influencers Influence

We shall overcome. We need to be together in this fight against the virus. India is badly hit by the second wave, where people are battling for oxygen, medicines and injection. But the second wave has also seen a brigade of volunteers who are working day and night to channelise resources and Twitter becomes a platform of hope amid the despair of India’s COVID crisis. After hours of fruitless efforts of calling government helplines in search of beds, oxygen and medicines, various organisations are now crowdfunding and taking the initiative to channelise the resources to the one in need.

In the latest, one such initiative was taken by the biggest influencers of the country to fight the pandemic, wherein they all collaborated in a fund-raising event through a live stream on Mythpat’s YouTube channel on Sunday, April 25. The event marked the presence Techno Gamerz, Mythpat, Kusha Kapila, Technical Guruji, Salonayy, Total Gaming, Ashish Chanchlani, Viraj Ghelani, Abish Mathew, Bhuvan Bam, Ankush Bahuguna, BeYouNick, Tanmay Bhatt, Ranveer Allahbadia, in the YouTube Live stream hosted by Mythpat and Slayy Point.

OpraahFx, an influencer marketing firm and its gaming sub-brand OP Gaming brought the influencers together to mobilise funds for the cause. Furthermore, OpraahFx has partnered with Goonj and Hemkunt foundations who are helping COVID patients in the country.

In the three-hour-long live stream session, influencers played online games and interacted with audiences to encourage them to donate for the COVID relief. The funds raised during the event will be donated to the aforementioned foundations to make their best use and improve the current bottleneck situation in the country.

Commenting on the initiative, Pranav Panpalia, founder, OpraahFx said: “We have all been observing a healthcare emergency with the very large demand of necessary and medical resources in the country since the last few weeks. Many influencers have been rigorously helping out people by sharing resource updates and donating to the causes that support them. With this campaign by OpraahFx, we aim to bring all the leading influencers together which can help us generate more funds for the COVID relief and ultimately help the ones in need. We believe that this is the time when influencers need to join hands and create a larger social impact collectively.”

Participating in the initiative, YouTuber Slayy Point said: “We are extremely happy to help organise, participate and host this live stream which is dedicated to bringing socio-economic change. With this, we aim to make people aware of how their contributions can help us fight the current stressful situation in the country because every donation counts. When we are in this together, we need to fight it together, and that is only possible with the combined efforts of the influencers and the public at large.”

The event #Mask on India live stream event at Mythpat Youtube has 10 million views already with 14 thousand comments, appreciating the influencers collaboration for making history. The fundraising live event collected 50 lakh rupees through the drive, making it a success. People contributed in large numbers.

This reflects the unity of people in such pressing times and that we are together to lift each other up. The credit also goes to the influencers, and other organisations making it possible for people to seek that helping hand in them when the government is overburdened or ignorant.

The influencers enjoy a huge following on Instagram and they regularly post about the covid-19 helplines and resources in their Instagram stories.
