India’s population in 2021 is estimated to be 1.39 billion and out of which there are 12.9 million persons with disabilities in the country. Finding employment in general in today’s era is a task for a person then imagine how difficult it might be for a person with a disability.
On December 18, Saturday, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highway, Nitin Gadkari launched ‘Rozgar Sarathi online job portal’, promoted by NGO Sarthak, which promises to provide government as well as private jobs for persons with disabilities.
“Disabled people have wonderful capacity, we need to extract the best of them and NGO like Sarthak is doing good work. For the people who are ‘divyang’, it is very difficult to survive, hence it’s a duty of society to give them employment and sustainable life. It’s the time of the country to lend a helping hand and give them an appropriate vision” Gadkari said this at the valedictory function of the 8th national conference on Disability hosted by Sarthak Educational Trust and National Abilympics Association of India.
The portal enables people with visual impairment to access the website using assistive technologies, such as screen readers.
“Sarthak came up with a Rozgar Sarathi- Job Portal for Persons with disabilities (One stop solution for all private sector, public sector and government jobs for Persons with disability), and mobile App for Divyangjan – CapSarathi, which has all information related to Disability and will be especially useful for reaching out the rural Divyangjan. Sarthak is also coming up with Sarthak Global Resource Center for Persons with disability in Gurugram- a solution for all disability-related concerns”, said Dr. Jitendra Aggarwal, Founder & CEO, Sarthak Educational Trust.
