Ajit Doval is known as India’s James Bond due to his long and outstanding career, today he serves as the 5th National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister and has been responsible for the successful planning and execution of Surgical Strikes conducted by the Indian government in 2016 as a retaliation against Uri Attack. The life of National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval has been a point of intrigue and admiration among the people of India. He is also known as the ‘Indian James Bond’. Doval is a retired IPS officer and a former Indian intelligence and law enforcement officer. In his outstanding service to date, he has several illustrious achievements and records to his name.

Recently, a US spokesperson made insensitive remarks on the supply of material which both Indian and US interlocutors noted.

Washington’s decision to support India during its fight against the raging pandemic came after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval spoke to his US counterpart Jake Sullivan regarding the matter of required raw materials for the production “Covishield vaccine”.

NSC spokesperson Emily Horne issued a statement on Sullivan’s conversation with Doval, the statement said “The United States has identified sources of specific raw material urgently required for Indian manufacture of the Covishield vaccine that will immediately be made available for India,”

US President Joe Biden tweeted “Just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need.”

  1. Youngest police officer to be awarded the Police Medal and the first police officer to receive Kirti Chakra, a military honor

The Police Medal is usually awarded after 16 years of service but Ajit Doval gained the honor after just 6 years of service, this was due to his utmost dedication and outstanding service, at the time Doval was the youngest police officer to gain the prestigious honor. He was later also awarded the President Police Award which is awarded for gallantry or distinguished service to the nation. In the year 1988, Ajit Doval was awarded one of the highest gallantry awards, the Kirti Chakra. This medal was previously given only as a military honor. Doval created history by becoming the first police officer to receive this honor.

  1. The mastermind behind the Surgical Strikes against Pakistan in retaliation for the Uri attack

The nation mourned the treacherous Uri attacks which were carried out by four terrorists near the Indian town of Uri in the former state of Jammu and Kashmir. Doval was revealed to be the mastermind of the planned retaliation, due to his meticulous planning backed by his exemplary experience, the operation was successfully carried out. Ajit Doval along with late Manohar Parrikar and Dalbir Singh were present in the war room throughout the duration of the operation.

  1. Anti-Insurgency operations in Mizoram

During the peak of Mizo Insurgency, Doval infiltrated the Mizo National Front’s camp in the Arakan in Burma to meet Laldenga, the movement’s leader. In an interview to a magazine later, Laldenga would cite Doval’s work as the reason he decided to come on board and sign the Mizoram accord.

Laldenga later told an interviewer “I had seven military commanders under me. When Doval left, he took six of them with him and I had no choice but to come on board and negotiate a peace accord,”

  1. Safe release of passengers from IC-814 in Kandahar in 1999

Ajit Doval played a pivotal role in negotiating the release of passengers of Indian Airlines flight 814; he was one of the 3 negotiators tasked with negotiating with the hijackers.

The Airbus was hijacked by five masked gunmen shortly after it entered Indian airspace at about 17:30 IST. The hijackers ordered the aircraft to be flown to a series of locations: Amritsar, Lahore,e, and Dubai. The hijackers finally forced the aircraft to land in Kandahar, Afghanistan, which at the time was controlled by the Taliban.

  1. Led to the release of 46 Indian nurses trapped in a hospital in Tikrit, Iraq
On 25th June 2014 Doval on a top-secret mission flew to Iraq to ensure the safe return of 46 Indian nurses who were trapped in a hospital in Tikrit Iraq, Doval made contact with high-level officials in the Iraqi government. On 5 July 2014, ISIS militants handed the nurses to authorities at Erbil city. The nurses were brought back home to Kochi in specially arranged planes by the Indian Government.

His determination and commitment to his responsibility and his love and patriotism for his country are truly remarkable which has won him many admirers both nationally and internationally. Today at the age of 76, he is in top shape and continues to be active in his duties as the National Security Advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
