Are you listening? Your skin is telling you something

Your skin is an indicator of your health, while many of you would agree, many would dismiss it. But it’s true, your skin can tell whether you are healthy or not. Your skin is the reflection of your health. Our skin reflects everything and people often ignore them. So what are these signs? How does the skin indicate that something is not right inside our bodies? The signs are very obvious, we just need to be able to read them and acknowledge the problem. 

Here are the signs :

Yellowish Skin – If your skin has turned yellow, this can be a symptom of thalassaemia, hepatitis or pancreatic cancer. If you also think that your skin has turned pale then don’t wait to visit a doctor. Yellow deposits mainly around eyes – cholesterol deposits near-eye due to abnormal lipid profile. So if you are having the same, go visit the doctor for a checkup. 

Itching– People often suffer itching due to diabetes or infection in the body. Itching can be a sign of high bilirubin or creatinine which may lead to liver or kidney problems. Anaemia, diabetes, thyroid problems, multiple myeloma or lymphoma. Nerve disorders can be a sign of itching. Examples include multiple sclerosis, pinched nerves and shingles. If you think that itching can be a sign of cancer, then it’s not because most skin cancers don’t cause itching. Diabetic patients are more likely to have dry and itchy skin.

Acne– This is a normal problem nowadays among teenagers and people with oily skin. But if your battle with acne goes on for long it’s time to meet a dermatologist, says experts. Acne can be due to hormonal disturbance leading to the thyroid. So don’t wait to consult a doctor.

Dryness– You can feel skin dryness in winter, but you need to check if your skin is extremely dry in any weather condition then it can be a sign of thyroid or diabetes. Despite applying moisturizer, if you don’t see much change in your skin texture, it can be a sign of eczema. Dryness can also be a sign of asthma.

Skin allergies– These can be seasonal or due to sunburn sometimes. But these can be a sign of infection or drug allergy. If your skin becomes allergic to every soap, detergent or fabric then this can be a sign of dermatitis. Eczema is the most common skin condition, especially in children. You need to be very aware of your allergy, notice the things that you get allergies from. Allergies can be caused due to food, dry fruits, sunlight etc. Allergic reactions are very instant, so you need to learn how to treat your skin allergies at the moment.

• Redness on the face- It can be due to an internal disease called Lupus. It can affect kidneys, liver, or joints. Itching on the nose and cheeks can be a sign of this. Redness can be a sign of sun damage or rosacea. If you’re having painful red skin, causing trouble, then it’s important to visit a doctor.

• Darken neck and underarms- This can be a sign of insulin resistance, a precursor to diabetes. People very often think that it’s dirt but that’s not the case. So go and visit the doctor as it can be acanthosis nigricans. Darken underarms can be due to deodorants or any chemical used for shaving etc. Some doctors believe that darkening can be a sign of diabetes.

•Rashes– Rashes can be a cause of skin disorders or health problems. If your rashes are itchy and make you feel uncomfortable, then it’s time for you to visit a skin doctor. If you have developed a skin rash with a particular cosmetic or any kind of skincare, you should stop using it. Rashes are a sign that your skin isn’t comfortable with these products. Stop using the product and observe, the rash will disappear. Regular skin checkups are very important for people who often suffer rashes.

•Pimples are a sign of stress– In this 21st century, many people are stressed and have anxiety issues, but only a  few people are able to understand and acknowledge it. Pimples can be due to hormonal changes or due to stress. If you think you are also having pimples due to stress, try meditation or yoga. Yoga is considered one of the best tools to relieve stress. When people experience stress in life, their skin reflects it. Either the skin will become dull or you will have pimples or acne.

Get to know your own body with the help of your skin, as your skin says a lot about your health. Keep a keen eye on your skin to have a check on your health problems. Get to know your skin, notice the changes your skin is going through. Watch out for the signs carefully, that your skin shows you.
