If the proposals regarding the construction of over-bridges, bridges, elevated roads along with flyovers at almost 14 places across the Lucknow, get approved and funding then the city will have a new skyline in the coming years. The state public works department (PWD) has made the latest development in order to improve the traffic system of the state capital.
Among the development Pant Nagar bridge (69-meter), Gaughat bridge (804.05-metre), Duggaur bridge (181.13- metres), and Mari Mata Mandir bridge (64-metre), Anoopganj overbridge (819.33 metres), Mohanlalganj overbridge (894.3-metre). Besides, 892.87-metre-long flyover at Telibagh, Vikramaditya Marg overbridge (648.35-metre), 8.2-km long elevated road over Haider canal, and 350-metre long Ahimamau–Arjunganj bridge are also been proposed.
Additionally, overbridges have also been proposed at Kesri Khera, Malihabad, Harauni, and Bharwara crossings. According to U.P officials of State Bridge Corporation, the proposed overbridges will be constructed only when the railways and the state government give permission. The project reported to be ₹160 crores had been sent to the government for approval, they stated.
PK Pandey, chief project manager, of UP State Bridge Corporation, said, “Bharwara railway crossing is closed 40-45 times a day. This causes big traffic jams and that’s why a 900-meter-long overbridge is proposed with the cost of ₹59 crores. The overbridge will connect the Gomti Nagar extension areas with the main Gomti Nagar. This will benefit residents of Kharagapur, Laulai, Chota Bharwara, and Hasemau.”
“The proposed Kesri Khera overbridge on the Lucknow-Kanpur rail section would be 965.24- metres long. It will cost ₹48.95 crores. Around one lakh population living around Kesri Khera would benefit from the overbridge,” he added. The overbridge proposed between Malihabad-Dilawar Nagar station would be almost 793.47-meter long and with around ₹38.34 crores worth of cost. It will be beneficial to over 2 lakh populations.
The proposed overbridge on Harauni-Jaitipur section on Bani Mohan road will be 841-metre long. The estimated cost of an overbridge is ₹43.89 crores. Around three lakh population of the area would have an advantage from this overbridge.
